On Tuesday 13th February 2007, we had the great honour of being interviewed in studio by Gerry Ryan. This was a monumental day for us. As two women working in our homes, listening to Gerry, it was unbelieveable that we were actually going to sit in the studio and talk to him live on air.
To say Gerry is a gentleman is putting it mildly. He's very professional and made us feel at ease. We were nervous as it was our first time ever to go on radio, and we knew that Gerry's show had a huge audience. It's hard to get the word about our eBook out there, so we can't tell you how grateful we were to Gerry and his team in 2fm. We also thought we'd be on for about 10 minutes and couldn't believe the amount of time we were actually on. We went on at 10.40am and didn't finish up until 11.15am - a whole 35 minutes!!
To fill you in a little, we basically talked about what we had been doing before we left the workplace and decided to set up a Home Based Business. That sounds really formal but anyone who's working from home whether it's catalogue selling or operating a franchise, they have a Home Based Business.
Then we started into our current business which is Internet Marketing. We both have online stores selling in the U.S. market and Gerry was really interested in this. He couldn't believe that we never "tasted the coffee" or saw the "flowers". It's a concept that's not well known here but very big in U.S. and growing in the U.K. In the eBook we tell people how we started out, the mistakes we made along the way and how they can get started at this if they want to.
Then Gerry asked us about the choices that were available for people who didn't want to use the internet or computers. We then told him about how to set up as a Virtual Assistant and also talked a bit about Mystery Shopping!
This was also of interest to Gerry and we've had quite a number of queries since the show in relation to it. Mystery Shopping is where a company pays you to visit Shops, Restaurants and even Hotels to evaluate their service. You might have to make a purchase, return a purchase, have a meal or even an overnight stay. Then you fill out a report on certain aspects of the visit such as the service, appearance of the establishment etc. It's popular with people who are working around their children's school times and fit it in. Although we had a wonderful 35 minutes with Gerry, it's impossible to talk about all the things that are in the eBook. We didn't discuss Affiliate Marketing, Selling on eBay, Multi-Level-Marketing (we mentioned it but not in detail), Franchises that can be worked from home, How to set up a Creche, Recruitment Agency, Hairdressers or Beauty Salon. There's information on these opportunities in our eBook so although we talked a lot about our business (using the internet), if you don't like computers, there are plenty of other options out there.
